As sheriff, you never really get a break. You are never fully off the clock. But for Jared, serving this county is more than a position — it is a responsibility to the people and place he calls home.

Farm Roots Fuel Jared Rigby’s Tireless Work Ethic

Jared Rigby grew up learning how to work hard, solve problems, and take responsibility. Raised in a big family and shaped by life on a farm, he learned early that you work for what you need, stay grateful for what you have, and show up when people count on you.

Growing up with six brothers and one sister taught him how to work through disagreements, stay tough, and handle challenges head-on. Life on the farm taught him discipline, self-sufficiency, and respect for the kind of work that does not stop just because the day gets long.

That mindset still shapes how he serves today.

Jared got into law enforcement because he wanted to serve. Over the years, that desire to serve has shaped the way he leads, the priorities he focuses on, and the standard he believes the sheriff’s office should uphold.

His experience has given him a deep understanding of what a sheriff’s office is really responsible for. It is not just patrol. It is public safety, investigations, emergency response, search and rescue, 911 coordination, jail oversight, and protecting the people of Wasatch County in some of their hardest moments.

For Jared, that responsibility matters. It is one of the reasons he has stayed committed to making sure the office is prepared, accountable, and focused on doing the job the right way.

He believes people should be able to trust their sheriff. That means communicating clearly, being consistent, and being honest about where things can improve. It also means showing up, making hard decisions when needed, and staying focused on what is best for the community.

Those values are not campaign lines for Jared. They are part of how he was raised, how he has lived, and how he continues to serve.

Family, Sacrifice, and Public Service

Public service affects the whole family. Jared knows that better than most.

As sheriff, you are never fully off the clock. The calls do not stop because it is late. Emergencies do not pause for birthdays, dinners, weekends, or holidays. That kind of work asks a lot, not just from the person serving, but from the family standing behind them.

Jared’s wife and children have lived that reality with him. Their support has made his service possible, and their sacrifice is part of the story too. That is one more reason this role is so personal to him.
